The Promise of World PeaceReleased in October 1985, on the eve of the United Nations International Year of Peace, this statement of the Universal House of Justice, the international governing council of the Bahá'í Faith and its international community, was addressed "To the Peoples of the World." Presented to over 160 heads of state and government over the next 10 years, it outlines the major prerequisites for, as well as the obstacles working against, the establishment of world peace. Over the course of the next 23 years since its release, the peoples of the World as well as heads of state have, in a large part, ignored this statement from the Universal House of Justice. As a consequence, the ills of the world have increased dramatically. Peace in the contemporary world is no longer an option but a necessity. All leaders and peoples of the world must come to realize this fact, and achieve the maturity which the Bahá'í Faith foresees for the coming of age of humanity |

O Fleeting Shadow! Pass beyond the baser stages of doubt and rise to the exalted heights of certainty. Open the eye of truth, that thou mayest behold the veilless Beauty and exclaim: Hallowed be the Lord, the most excellent of all creators!

Bahá'í Houses of Worship Bahá'í Houses of Worship are located in every continent, except Antarctica. The building style for these temples can differ, but one characteristic for each temple is that the building must be 9-sided having 9 doors or entrances, should have a dome, and be surrounded by gardens and walks as an integral part of the design. The design of each temple relates to the climate, environment and culture of the area where it is built. |
